There’s no Place like London

A dear friend of mine invited me to an auction of something special in Mayfair so I packed my camera bag and we took the District Line to St James Park Station. We’d been planning to cross the park and onto our destination, but were cut off by soldiers in royal dress, horses and carriages. We found out that this was the dress rehearsal for imminent arrival of the Emir of Qatar.

We did finally make it to Heritage Auctions to see Dorothy’s ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz. What was just as fascinating for me were drawings from the film, scripts, photographs and the Wicked Witch’s hat.
