Seaside Dream

I lived in LA for six years in the 80s. I went to the beach for about the first three months of that time; after that only sporadically. When it comes to the seaside, there’s something that the Pacific Coast of southern California lacks that the UK does extraordinarily well — it’s a combination of heritage, human scale, architecture and British charm. In September my family and I took my Airbnb superhost voucher and spent a wonderful weekend on the north Kent coast beginning in a place we’d wanted to explore since Tracy Emin’s Turner shortlisted bed.

We took the very short train ride to stay the night in Ramsgate, Margate’s larger harbour neighbour to the south. The architecture, beaches and Pugin’s Shrine of St Augustine were a feast for my camera.

Most of the photos I show on this blog are pictures taken with my Canon. But like most people, I do enjoy taking snaps on my phone. So below are a sample of the pics from my Samsung, most of which I’ve shared on my Instagram stories.
