Outdoor Living in London

Living the London life today is different from what it was like when I moved here over 30 years ago. Our first outdoor space was the roof of a bay window on Highbury Fields — enough room for two people, and not safely at that. Our next flat had a flat roof that had to be accessed via a removable ladder — it too was not safe for anything other than sunbathing. I now have a small but perfectrly formed patch in Kew, but it has absolutely nothing on a patio I was able to shoot a few weeks ago in Fulham. This courtyard includes a fabulous Alfresco Kitchen, a contemporary seating area, a children’s play kitchen as well as gorgeous, lush foliage and flowers by Lilly-Joan Richardson Design. I can imagine that this space at twilight must be something quite extraordinary. And all just a stone’s throw from central London.
