A Stunnning and Bold Open Plan in East Sheen

This open plan kitchen is a consummate demonstration of fantastic design — with the kitchen and bar by Pronorm Kitchen Design — but also contains loads of individual taste with a bold, contemporary feel. I love the burnt orange accents and furniture, the mirror ball lights and museum-looking artwork pieces. The garden backs onto Richmond Park and so is green and feels secluded, though the property is located not far from the west end of London in East Sheen.

On another more technical note, this photoshoot was the very first time that my gear backpack was missing the small device that attaches my camera to my tripod. Having my Canon completely still is essential for my interiors and architectural photography because I use a technique called bracketing which means I take multiple shots of the same composition at different shutter speeds. I then combine them in post so that dark parts of the photo can be lightened and harshly bright areas are made less so. This technique allows the final photo to look natural, without harsh or unnatural looking parts. When I shot these photos I had to make do with different bits of kit in my bag. I really couldn’t have gone home to look for the missing piece as I only had a short time to take these photos when I’m allowed into the owner’s house. But thankfully, necessity brought forth a workable solution!
